Course Syllabus

This is a specialized woodturning course utilizing the mini-lathe to make beautiful hollow Christmas Ornaments. Students will begin with blocks of domestic hardwoods and shape, hollow, hide the joints, sand and finish what will surely become a prized family heirloom. Also, students will use a variety of small tools including the gouge, round nose scraper, parting tool and the dreaded skew.

Taught by renowned turner Bobby Clemons from Pikesville, Tennessee, Bobby has been featured on HGTV’s Modern Masters Christmas Show demonstrating turning his style of Christmas ornaments. He has also taught courses at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, the Appalachian Craft Center, and the John C. Campbell Folk School and has his work featured in several galleries.
